Chasing the Wind

I set with a wise man the other day and the following conversation took place…

Wise Man: How are you

Me: I’m struggling. I am doing everything that is supposed to make you happy. I am meditating, journaling, making gratitude list, positive thinking, exercising, and eating right. I’m traveling, spending time with friends and family, and following my passions. I’ve been in a relationship, I’ve been single and I’ve been inbetween. Regardless of it all, I can’t seem to stay happy.

Wise Man: Stop chasing the wind and be sad

Me: What? Did you hear what I said, I am struggling to stay happy

Wise Man: I heard you. But, there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens. Trying to hold onto happiness is useless. It’s like trying to hold on to the wind.

Me: Why are you talking about the seasons, the heavens, the wind and time? I’m talking about happiness. I’ll tell you what I don’t have time for…….sadness.

Wise Man: Then you don’t have time to be happy. Keep chasing the wind my friend and when you get tired know that there is

a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.
